Huntsville on the Road: Auburn!

Join other Huntsville/Madison County companies at two upcoming Auburn University career fairs. The Non-technical Career Fair is on Sept. 29and the Technical Career Fair is on Oct. 1. There are interview days scheduled after each fair. These fairs are both sponsored through Auburn Career Services (/www.auburn.edu/academic/provost/undergrad_studies/career/).

Registration opens Monday (June 2) and there are only 116 spaces available. These will go quickly. You must register for both days separately through the link above. Once you have registered, email Mitzi Floyd (mfloyd@hsvchamber.org) to tell her which days you are attending so she can get your booth space assigned in the Huntsville section.

If you are planning to attend both days, Auburn requires you to take down your display on Sept. 29 and then reset it on Oct. 1. The Dixon Hotel will store the displays.

This kind of community recruiting has had a big impact. Just this week, the Chamber received the following email from a successful job seeker:

While a second year Master's student at The University of Alabama Tuscaloosa, I attended a job fair with a specifically Huntsville theme (Huntsville on the Road). One of the booths there was manned by the Huntsville/Madison Chamber of Commerce, and I left a resume with them. Someone from your office later contacted me for a soft copy of my resume. Several months later, I received a call from a prospective employer. The position in question was one which I had applied for, but through a different company.

Apparently a different subcontractor received my resume from the Chamber and contacted me about the position.

I have now been in Huntsville for 2 weeks working at a prestigious engineering job for NASA at Marshall Space Flight Center. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Chamber of Commerce for their assistance in helping me find my way into this lovely city.
