About Bridges
Bridges Huntsville/Madison County is a professional and social development program for co-ops, interns and recent college graduates presented by the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County. It is designed to help young, entry-level professionals bridge the gap between school and career while learning more about living, working and playing in Huntsville/Madison County. Live, Work and Play
A great job is only one motivator for today’s young professionals. In order to attract and retain them in the community, employers must help show them that Huntsville/Madison County is a smart place to live, work and play. The booming economy offers plenty of opportunities for all types of workers, and entrepreneurs thrive in the technology-driven market. Affordable apartments or starter homes, sun-belt weather and short commutes provide attractive alternatives to other metropolitan areas, and there are artistic and recreational opportunities for all levels of creativity and activity. A wide variety of social and civic organizations provide the balance between work and play that today’s young professionals demand.
Program Details
Bridges is a fun, interactive program that brings together young professionals from different work environments to meet their peers while learning more about the community. Over three half-days, participants learn about the rich history and exciting future of Huntsville/Madison County. Each session begins with lunch on site or at a local restaurant. Teamwork and problem-solving skills are sharpened on a ropes course, and workshops cover topics such as leadership, advanced degree programs and generational differences in the workplace. Information on cost of living, hands-on volunteer opportunities and one-on-one discussions with leaders in local young professional groups show participants why Huntsville/Madison County is such a great choice for today’s twenty-somethings.
Application Process
Classes are held twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. Applications are now being accepted for Bridges Class 9. Dates for the Class 9 are as below:
- Wednesday, March 10
- Wednesday, March 24
- Tuesday, April 6
Class selection is based on the following criteria:
- Diverse group of co-ops, interns and recent college graduates
- Recommendation from employer
- Commitment of necessary time and effort to complete the program*
If accepted into the program, tuition of $100 per person will be due from the employer prior to the first session. A $25 cancellation fee will be assessed for all cancellations received prior to the first class. Substitutions will not be accepted. Tuition is non-refundable for failure to attend or complete the classes.
