Full production is expected to begin this spring for International Truck and Engine Corp.'s assembly plant, now under construction in the Jetplex Industrial Park beside Huntsville International Airport. The new "big-bore" diesel engine, the largest in the MaxxForce family of commercial-truck diesel engines, will be finished and trimmed at the Huntsville plant. The engines will serve the Class 8 truck market. More than 175 employees are expected to work at the 300,000-square-foot plant. Birmingham-based Doster Construction Co. is the project's general contractor, and the architect is Gresham, Smith and Partners Architects in Nashville. The construction cost is $15.2 million, according to Doster's Web site.
