TJ Maxx to anchor larger project in city's northwest

Fairway Investments LLC, a Birmingham real estate investment company, is developing two shopping centers in Huntsville - one in the Hampton Cove area and another on U.S. 72 in northwest Huntsville.

TJ Maxx will be the anchor tenant for the shopping center of about 60,000 square feet at the northeast corner of U.S. 72 and Lawsons Ridge Road.

"We anticipate a grand opening by the second quarter of 2008," said Lee Peerson, director of development for Fairway Investments. "We have several spaces still available for lease. We also have one 1.78-acre outparcel for sale at the intersection of Highway 72 and Lawsons Ridge."

The names of other tenants in the center should be announced in a few months.

The site, which is in the Huntsville city limits, is between Kohl's and Home Depot.

A name for the center hasn't been finalized, Peerson said.

Also, Fairway Investments and Nashville-based Market Land Co. are developing an L-shaped shopping center of about 45,000 square feet on Sutton Road beside the Wal-Mart Supercenter.

The Shops at Hampton Cove is expected to open this fall.

A Mexican restaurant, Chinese restaurant, hair salon, nail salon and family practitioner's office are among the tenants in the center. Retail space is still available for lease.

Colonial Promenade at Madison at 7830 U.S. 72 W. is a joint venture of Fairway Investments and Colonial Properties Inc.
