Construction has started on a 102-room Hilton Garden Inn on Boulevard South off South Memorial Parkway. The hotel is expected to be completed in early 2008, possibly March or April.

The investment in the project, including the land, building and furniture, will be about $10.1 million, said Alpesh Patel, president of the Kana Hotel Group, based in Knoxville.

The five-story, 70,000-square-foot Hilton Garden Inn is being built west of the Radisson Hotel and the Hampton Inn on Boulevard South. It will have 2,500 square feet of flexible meeting space; a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner; and a full-service bar. The rooms will feature high-definition TVs and high-speed Internet access.

Another Hilton Garden Inn is on Governors House Drive overlooking Interstate 565. Hilton Garden Inn is part of Hilton Hotels Corp.
