CEO says it 'tells us our customers like what we do'

Huntsville-based Qualis Corp. has received the U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator's Award for Excellence.

The award is tied to the SBA 2007 Region IV Subcontractor of the Year Award, which Qualis received in April. Qualis, a technical services company, was recognized as the best subcontractor in an eight-state region which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Prime contractor

Jacobs Engineering, a large prime contractor that has offices in Huntsville, nominated Qualis for the award.

Jacobs "recognizes your expertise and the quality of services you provide," said Mitchell Morand, the SBA's Region IV area director, in presenting the Administrator's Award on Tuesday at Qualis headquarters.

"We work very hard to help our customers achieve success in their programs," said Elizabeth Morard, the president and CEO of Qualis. The award "tells us our customers like what we do."

Qualis was founded by Morard and Mary Engel, the company's executive vice president, in 1993. It now has more than 300 employees and supports the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, NASA, major prime contractors and commercial customers.

Qualis has teamed with Jacobs on work at Marshall Space Flight Center and Eglin Air Force Base.
