Heart of Huntsville design phase to start

Another long-awaited commercial development, located in the heart of the city, could start taking shape soon.

The last outbuilding at Heart of Huntsville/Market Square mall has been demolished. Scott McLain, the property owner, said demolition on the main structure will likely begin within the next couple of months. One tenant, Sandollar Tanning, currently leases a space in the mall, McLain said.

"We're in discussions with Sandollar, allowing them to keep going until then," he said.

McLain said the site's new development is in the design stage and, once designed, he'll be able to recruit retailers.

He said he hopes to announce two new hotels within a couple of months.
