Project to offer 210,000 square feet of new space

InterSouth Properties Inc. is developing Highland Office Park, a multi-tenant office park on Quality Circle in Thornton Research Park.

The project's first phase, which will include two buildings with a total of 97,000 square feet, is scheduled to be completed in May, according to Alan Jenkins, president of InterSouth Properties.

In all, Highland Office Park will have 210,000 square feet of office space on 27 acres, Jenkins said. The land was purchased from the UAH Foundation last summer.

The project is being developed in response to the market's demand for multi-tenant office space, Jenkins said. "Our Park West Center development, completed in June 2006, is currently over 90 percent occupied. We will continue to supply the market with high-quality space at competitive lease rates."

Joe Still Building Co. Inc. is the general contractor for Highland Office Park. Fuqua and Partners Architects is the design team.

The second phase of the project consists of two additional buildings, with a total of 113,000 square feet of space.

"Once we reach a stabilized occupancy level (with Phase 1), we'll begin Phase 2," Jenkins said. Construction could start in the first or second quarter of 2008, he said.

Other InterSouth Properties development projects include Progress Center, Research Park Office Center and Research Place. Jenkins also owns University Square Business Center.
