Huntsville-based Bevilacqua Research Corp. has been awarded a Department of Defense contract that could be worth as much as $930 million over 10 years.

The high-tech company will provide a range of testing and evaluation services and technology for the Department of Defense aimed at improving coordination between branches of the U.S. armed forces, the company said in a news release.

The contract has already started and the company's experience with test and evaluation work helped it land the contract, a spokesman said.

"We feel we can deliver superior products and services to the government at a reasonable cost," said Andy Bevilacqua, the company's president. "These products and services will directly benefit our warfighters by helping the military find ways to work in the type of joint operational environment that is so common today."

Bevilacqua has about 70 employees, with about one-third of the work force based in Huntsville. Others work in Vicksburg, Miss.; Eglin Air Force Base in Florida; Herndon, Va.; and College Park, Md.
