Westar Aerospace wins$21 million Army contractWednesday, October 18, 2006
From staff reports Huntsville Times Westar Aerospace & Defense Group Inc. will provide test support services to the Army Aviation Technical Test Center at Fort Rucker under a five-year contract valued at more than $21 million. Westar's Aviation Technical Services division, led by Joe Townsend, operates out of the company's Huntsville center and manages most of the work that Westar does for the Army. Westar has about 400 employees here and about 550 in Alabama. "Westar's 20-plus years of experience in flight testing, evaluation and analysis fully supports the ATTC's mission to optimize aviation war-fighting capabilities to ensure full spectrum dominance of the battlefield for the soldier," said Townsend, Westar vice president, Aviation Technical Services. The ATTC is the Army's premier aviation developmental flight test organization. Westar has been the prime contractor for ATTC's Test Support Services and for its Reliability, Availability and Maintainability Data Services since 1995. Under these contracts, Westar helps the ATTC plan, conduct, analyze and report on the development and airworthiness qualifications of aircraft, aviation systems and associated equipment throughout their life cycles. "We are extremely proud of the opportunity to continue our support of the ATTC," Townsend said. "It underscores the confidence our customers have in the outstanding performance of Westar personnel." Based in St. Louis, Westar Aerospace and Defense is a systems engineering contractor with more than $200 million in annual revenue. | |
