From staff reports Huntsville Times West Corp. says workers will earn $9 an hour initially West Corp. is looking to fill 150 to 200 customer-service representative jobs at its Huntsville facility. Nebraska-based West, which provides outsourced call center services, held a job fair here Tuesday, hoping to attract new employees, according to a company news release. The jobs are designed to serve a new customer, a cable and telephone service provider. Workers will take inbound calls related to services, billing and other matters. A training period for new employees usually runs two to six weeks, depending on the material they will handle, said David Pleiss, West vice president of investor and public relations. Pleiss said job seekers will need good communication skills and will be working with computers, so some familiarity in that area is helpful. West employs about 930 in Huntsville. New employees will earn $9 an hour for the first 90 days and then get a raise to $10.25. The majority of the openings are for full-time employees, with different shifts available. Applicants can also apply at West's office at 5000 Bradford Drive, Suite 300, in Cummings Research Park, or online at www.westemployment.com. | |
