Saturday, July 29, 2006
From staff reports Huntsville Times Avion Inc. is relocating its headquarters to Huntsville from Wright City, Mo. Also, Gary Donald, president of Avion, has acquired majority ownership of the company, effective July 1. The company provides professional engineering, logistics, information-technology and software-development services for aviation customers. "I am delighted to have this headquarters relocation and acquisition completed," said Donald. "This acquisition will be transparent to our employees as well as our customers. Avion will continue to provide excellent support to our customers and to provide a great place for our employees to work." Formed in January 1992 in response to the engineering and analytical needs of the U.S. Army aviation community, Avion is now a veteran-owned small business. Donald relocated his family and 10 employees to Huntsville in 1997 with the advent of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) activity that caused Army aviation support to move from St. Louis to Huntsville. Avion located the office in Huntsville to be near its major customer, U.S. Army aviation. The firm now employs 140 engineering and technical personnel, with 90 in Huntsville and others at Army aviation facilities worldwide, including Iraq and Afghanistan. Avion recently relocated to its new offices at 7067 Madison Pike, Suite 170, in Huntsville. | |
