accardi@htimes.com Advanced Systems Development Inc., an Arlington, Va.-based information technology firm, officially opened new Huntsville offices Wednesday, an expansion made possible when the company won a major contract from the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command last year. "Capturing that contract really allowed us to further expand and, as a result, establish this office," said Richard Bennett, the company's president and chief executive officer. "We're looking to future growth" associated with the Base Realignment and Closure Commission's recommendations, which are expected to send about 4,700 federal jobs here by 2011. "We're looking to be a significant player" in the Huntsville community, Bennett said. The SMDC/U.S. Army Forces Strategic Command last October awarded a contract to ASD for information technology support for their Command Information Management System. The contract has an estimated face value of nearly $5 million for its base year and a potential of $15 million over the next three years. The contract has a potential maximum amount of nearly $405 million over 10 years. The company's new offices in Huntsville are at 103 Quality Circle, Suite 200 in Park West Center. Huntsville workers had previously been housed in two locations. As of Thursday, ASD had 44 employees in Huntsville, with 213 employees companywide. Revenue for the company for fiscal year 2005 was $20 million, and is expected to reach about $30 million for fiscal year 2006. Bennett expects there will be 65 employees in the Huntsville office by the end of this year. | |
