Grants to provide engineering software licenses

Huntsville-based Intergraph Corp. said Wednesday it plans to donate $1.8 million in grants to universities around the world.

The Intergraph Education Grant Program will provide plant design and engineering software licenses, support and instructor training for its SmartPlant suite of plant and industrial design software to universities in Argentina, Finland, Haiti and Norway.

The program aims to build student proficiency and experience in using engineering software and provide industry with qualified job candidates, the company said. Educational institutions worldwide with engineering and technical curricula associated with the process manufacturing, power generation and offshore petroleum industries are eligible to apply for grants, which have a one-year, renewable term.

Intergraph software is widely used in design, construction, operations and maintenance in a variety of industries including onshore and offshore oil and gas, shipbuilding, petrochemicals, power generation, chemicals, metals and mining, pharmaceuticals and food and beverage facilities.
