Aort of Huntsville given Global Trade Award Friday, May 05, 2006
The Port of Huntsville was presented the North Alabama International Trade Association's 2006 Global Trade Award at NAITA's World Trade Day luncheon on Thursday. The award recognizes North Alabama organizations and companies for their dedication to international trade development. In receiving the award, Rick Tucker, The Port of Huntsville's executive director, said he was accepting it on behalf of the those attending the event. "Our facility is your facility. The infrastructure we provide is your infrastructure." The Port of Huntsville was selected for its community leadership and excellence in expanding international business by establishing the facilities critical to the global success of companies across the region. It was recognized as a major player and leader in launching - with NAITA - a new economic development initiative, the North Alabama Region: a Globally Competitive Community, or GC2. The GC2 effort is designed to build a globally competitive region that extends across 14 North Alabama counties and Lincoln County in Tennessee. The Port of Huntsville is made up of three entities - Huntsville International Airport, the International Intermodal Center and the Jetplex Industrial Park. © 2006 The Huntsville Times |
