Morgan Research being sold to Virginia firm
Local engineering service company started in 1988 Saturday, January 07, 2006
Huntsville-based Morgan Research Corp. is being bought by Stanley Associates Inc., an Arlington, Va.-based government contractor. The transaction is expected to close within 30 days, subject to customary closing condition. Details of the transaction were not disclosed. Morgan Research, an engineering services firm, has a broad customer base within the Army, NASA and other government agencies. Sharon Morgan and her husband, Tim, started Morgan Research in 1988. Since them the company has grown from just the two of them to more than 400 employees in six locations across the southern United States. No changes are expected in employment. “The acquisition by Stanley is consistent with our company’s long-term strategic objectives,” according to Sharon Morgan. “It provides us with the platform through which we can leverage our capabilities into new customer markets, expand our presence around the globe and generate opportunity to further strengthen relations with existing customers through a broader range of complementary, high-end technological solutions.” The acquisition “provides us with the platform to expand our presence in Huntsville and the opportunity to further strengthen relationship with existing customers through a broader range of services.” Said Phil Nolan, president and chief executive office of Stanley.” Stanley is committed to providing our customers with a fully integrated approach to the systems and services we deliver. Morgan’s engineering expertise and advanced solution development provide a great compliment to our current markets and services offerings.” Stanley, an employee-owned company, had revenues of $282 million last year, The company has nearly 1,800 employees around the world. Last year, Sharon Morgan was the first recipient of Alabama’s Woman-Owned Small Business Person of the Year Award from the SBA’s Alabama district office.
