Developers of Bridge Street name names
A few of the project's restaurants, apparel and jewelry stores revealed Wednesday, December 21, 2005 After months of speculation, developers of Bridge Street Town Centre in Cummings Research Park are rolling out store and restaurant names. Most of the retailers currently negotiating leases with O&S Holdings for space at the multi-use project will be new to Huntsville but familiar to avid shoppers: Coldwater Creek, Ann Taylor Loft and J.Jill, all women's clothing stores; Francesca's Collections, which sells jewelry and accessories; restaurants P.F. Chang's, Sullivan's Steakhouse and Bravo Cucina. The Westin Huntsville hotel will have an Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa that guests can access from the hotel or the street, said Alex Hardy, business development manager and director of public policy for O&S Holdings. Bridge Street will also have Huntsville's second Chico's store. Two other Chico's company stores are planned: a White House/Black Market women's apparel store and Soma by Chico's, which sells lingerie and sleepwear. Brighton's Collectibles will have a free-standing store. Brighton's handbags and accessories are currently available at Parisian. When fully developed, Bridge Street will have 75 stores and restaurants, Hardy said. More retailers will be announced in the coming months. "We've got a long list of guys that we're negotiating with," he said. O&S Holdings announced plans to build $210 million Bridge Street three years ago this week. Plans call for the 100-acre development to have an upscale, open-air town center; a hotel and conference center; specialty shops and restaurants; offices and condominiums. There will also be a 10-acre lake visitors can cross via water taxi and fountains programmed for hourly shows. Crews broke ground on the project in May. Water and sewer pipes are being laid and a parking deck is in the works. Most of the stores and restaurants will be open by May 2007, with the office space to be finished a couple of months later. The Westin will be ready to open shortly after that, Hardy said. The 11-story hotel will have 75 condominiums on the top five floors, ranging from 1,200 to 4,000 square feet. Hardy said developers are still determining the price range; they will be "at the high end of the market, but still be competitive," he said. "We now have more people on our waiting list than we have condos." Hardy said Bridge Street's office space will be unlike the rest in the research park in that it can house nearly any type of business. Cummings Research Park's covenants require companies occupying the park to be involved in the science or technology fields. Bridge street's offices could house architects, insurance firms and financial services. "Their customer base is in the park," he said. "They can get closer to the customers than they've ever been able to before." If developers determine there's a demand, a second phase for Bridge Street could include apartments, Hardy said, as well as more office space. © 2005 The Huntsville Times |
