California company buys Miltec
President of local defense contractor to remain involved

Miltec Corp., a privately owned company based in Huntsville, has been acquired by California-based Ducommun Inc.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Don Miller, president and principal shareholder of Miltec, will remain with the company, according to a news release.

Miltec's sales for the twelve-month period ended Sept. 30 were approximately $42 million. According to the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce's 2005 Industrial Directory, Miltec had 186 employees.

Its headquarters are in Cummings Research Park. Miltec also has offices in Arlington, Va.; Iuka and Oxford, Miss., and Anchorage, Alaska.

Miltec is a leading provider of missile and aerospace systems design, development, integration and test, operating through three divisions.

Key customers of Miltec include the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, the Missile Defense Agency, the Aviation and Missile Command, the Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center, and various prime contractors to the U.S. government.

Ducommun manufactures components and assemblies for commercial aircraft, military aircraft and space programs. It is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol DCO.
