Friday, November 11, 2005

Huntsville ranks No. 2 on a list of the "Ten Most Affordable Cities" in the November/December issue of Career World magazine.

The magazine gives students in grades seven through 12 information on the latest career trends and vocational opportunities.

Huntsville ranked behind New London, Conn. Other cities making the list, in order, were: Baltimore; Harrisburg, Pa.; Tulsa, Okla.; Rock Island, Ill.; Troy, N.Y.; Corpus Christi, Texas; Schenectady, N.Y., and Las Vegas.

The issue also includes a comment from Alissa Murnane, the 26-year-old owner of Average to Art in Huntsville: "My original reason for choosing Huntsville was true love - for my husband. I've lived on both U.S. coasts, (in) the Midwest, Mexico and Japan. I am proud to call Huntsville home for its wonderful combination of Southern charm and growing opportunity. The local chamber of commerce and networking groups are incredibly helpful to a young, new business person. I cannot imagine a better place for a young woman to start and succeed in a small service business."
