Small firms nominated for awardsThursday, August 12, 2004
From staff reports Huntsville Times Thirty-two contenders have been announced for the 19th annual Small Business Awards Celebration. Finalists and winners will be named at an Awards Celebration on Aug. 26 at the Von Braun Center. "We will be honoring businesses all across our community in seven categories," said event co-chairwoman Ann Yelle with HiWAAY Internet Services. Those categories include business services, manufacturing and construction, technology, wholesale/retail, personal services, executive of the year and nonprofit organization of the year. The contenders for small business and executive of the year are 3D Research, Bama Jammer Promotions, Bishops Flowers, Brown International, Chapman Sisson Architects, Padgett Business Services, Cyn Shea's Complete Catering Inc., Davidson Technologies, Delta Research, Digital Operations Corp., Holeman Scientific Corporation, Intuitive Research and Technology Corp., MagnaCom Inc., Omni Team LLC, Perkins Technical Services Inc., Qualis Corp., Radical Systems Inc., Realty Group, Shearer & Associates, Spine Care, Steve Steele Custom Homes and Woodland Homes of Huntsville. For nonprofit of the year, the contenders are American Red Cross, Girls Inc. of Huntsville, Hospice Family Care, Huntsville Botanical Garden, Junior Achievement of North Alabama, Land Trust of Huntsville/North Alabama, Sci-Quest, The Arts Council Inc., The Volunteer Center of Madison County and WEDC Foundation. This year's major sponsors include APT Research Inc., FPMI Solutions, HiWAAY Internet Services and The Times. For a complete list of sponsors, check www.hsvchamber.org. The event will be in the North Hall of the Von Braun Center. A reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. Individual seats are $55 through Aug. 16 and $65 thereafter.
