Business in Brief
Decatur-based Cornerstone Detention Products Inc. has started work on a new building in preparation for a move to Huntsville next year.
The company, which sells and distributes products for the prison industry, is holding a groundbreaking ceremony today at 10 a.m., at the new location, 25270 Will McComb Drive. The company expects to move 33 employees to the new location, which is set to be completed in April.
Mitch Claborn, the company's founder, said the move is aimed at consolidating the company's operations. Claborn said Cornerstone is currently using four locations and a warehouse in Decatur.
Cornerstone will add three to five employees to its workforce per year over the next few years, he said.
The company sells a variety of products for the security industry including prison beds, desks and mirrors, windows, doors, frames and locks.
Cornerstone operates nationally and had sales of about $18 million last year, Claborn said.
