Books for The Boys and Girls Clubs of North Alabama (BGCNAL)
To our friends and neighbors in Research Park:
In support of
the excitement of 5000 underprivileged kids of North Alabama and their Project 10K
we are collecting books so they can participate in a club wide challenge to
read 10,000 books. We at Boys and Girls Clubs of North Alabama (BGCNAL)
want to make sure the excitement about reading continues by stocking the
libraries at our 10 clubs over North Alabama with new and exciting books for
our kids.
We are asking
companies in Research Park for your help by allowing us to place a poster in
your business for the month of February promoting this effort and a collection
box the last two weeks of February to collect new and gently used books from
your employees and others who may share your building and have an interest in
helping our kids. We are also seeking volunteers interested in reading with the
kids of our clubs.
The goal of
Project 10K is to get our BGCNAL kids reading at or above their grade reading
level. In addition to having a nice selection of books the kids will be
mentored and coached in reading. Donated books should be in good condition and
appropriate for kids age 3-14.
Please no magazines,
textbooks, outdated non-fiction, encyclopedia sets or coloring books.
