Walter Jones Presents a Turkey Bowl for HEALS, Inc.

Huntsville, AL - All across the U.S., fall season is synonymous with football. America gets “football fever” as college and professional teams hit the gridiron each week. Thanksgiving marks a time each November when football really takes hold as a brief break from work allows people time to enjoy friends, family, food, and football. Some even find joy in getting together to play in informal pick-up football games with friends. Over time, these games have evolved into what is known as “Turkey Bowls,” a salute to the Thanksgiving holiday food of choice.

The Walter Jones’ Turkey Bowl takes this annual tradition to the next level by organizing the event into a competitive format to benefit HEALS, Inc.  The inaugural Walter Jones’ Turkey Bowl for HEALS” kicks off at 9:00am Saturday, November 19 at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville, AL.  This seven-on-seven flag football tournament will support HEALS, Inc. – a local organization dedicated to providing disadvantaged children with medical and dental care at school.   Tournament play will be from 9am to 8pm on Saturday, November 19th and from 2 to 6 pm on Sunday, November 20th .  Twelve teams will vie for the Turkey Bowl Cup and other prizes.   Admission is free to the public.

Presented by Booz Allen Hamilton and hosted at Milton Frank Stadium by the Huntsville Sports Authority, the opening ceremonies at 9am Saturday, November 19 will include a performance by Sparkman High School Drum line, presentation of the Colors by Sparkman ROTC, singing of the National Anthem by Cristina Lynn, and a performance by Merrimack Hall’s Project UP Cheerleaders.
