June 28, 2010 – Huntsville, AL - Directions Media today unveils the preliminary agenda for the fourth annual Rocket City Geospatial Conference to be held in Huntsville, Alabama on November 16th and 17th at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration. The one and one-half-day event will include presentations with a focus on the applications of geographic information systems (GIS) and related geospatial technologies to state and local government. The agenda, as well as registration information, can be found at www.RocketCityGeospatial.com.

“With the region being hit by several natural disasters in addition to the situation in the Gulf of Mexico, geospatial professionals have been called upon to supply much needed geographic information to support first responders for crisis mapping as well as oil cleanup efforts,” said Joe Francica, conference chairman. “So, we anticipate that the conference this year will serve as a focal point to discuss the efforts that support the needs of state and local government agencies.”

The keynote presentation will be delivered by Mr. David DiBiase who is the director of the John A. Dutton E-Education Institute at The Pennsylvania State University. Mr. DiBiase is also a senior researcher with the National Geospatial Technology Center of Excellence (GeoTech Center – www.geotechcenter.org), a member of the board for the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (www.urisa.org), and president of the GIS Certification Institute (www.gisci.org).
