Janet Kincherlow-Martin FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CALHOUN'S PUBLIC RELATIONS DEPARTMENT RECOGNIZED FOR OUTSTANDING MARKETING EFFORTS DURING STATE PR CONFERENCE The Public Affairs, Community Relations and Special Events department at Calhoun Community College received 11 awards during the annual conference of the Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association (ACCSPRA) held June 14 and 15 in Montgomery. Calhoun's Public Relations department was presented with a "Best of Show" award, four (4) first place Pyramid Awards, an Award of Achievement, and five (5) Awards of Merit in the Pyramid Awards competition. Specifically, Calhoun was presented awards in the following categories: Pyramid Awards in the (1) College Promotional Video/CD/DVD category for the "Dream !t Do !t" video, which also received the "Best of Show" in the Broadcast/Electronic Publications area; (2) Promotional Advertising for the Opening Doors grant jump drives; (3) Video/Radio Program for the "Calhoun Review"; and (4) Brochure/Flyer Series for the college's series of program cards. The Award of Achievement was in the area of Student Publications for the college's literary magazine, the Muse and Awards of Merit were earned for (1) Photography - "Sparks Are Flying," a photograph of a high school student during the 2009 SWeETy Camp for girls; (2) Annual Report for the college's 2008 Annual Report; (3) the Newsletter category for The Bulletin; (4) the Class Schedule category; and (5) Outdoor Advertising for the digital billboard, "Follow Your Dream." During the conference's business meeting, Calhoun PR director Janet Kincherlow-Martin was elected to the ACCSPRA Board as an At-Large member. ###
