The growth of Huntsville and Madison County began in the 1950’s as Dr. Wernher von Braun and his team of rocket scientists raced to be the first nation in space. This inspired technological innovation in the Rocket City that still exists today. As businesses have grown, our community has grown, propelling Huntsville to be Alabama’s second largest metropolitan area according to the U.S. Census of 2010.
This growth that was originally fueled by the aerospace industry but has grown to a diverse economy to include defense, computer science, advanced manufacturing and biotechnology making Huntsville/Madison County a Smart place to live, work and play.
Our goal as a Chamber is to secure sustainable economic growth for the future for our community. Therefore, we have partnered with The Community Foundation and The Schools Foundation. These non-profit organizations now reside in the Chamber of Commerce building in downtown Huntsville.
