2013 Small Business Awards Nomination Criteria

Nomination period – 03/01/2013 – 04/05/2013

The spirit of the Small Business Awards is to recognize individuals and businesses that make a positive impact on our community through their products, services and outstanding attributes.

The 2013 Small Business Awards will consist of 7 categories.

All Small Businesses nominated for categories 1-4 must meet the criteria below:

• Nominees must be headquartered in the Huntsville/Madison County metro area as of January 1, 2013 and have been in business prior to December 31, 2010
• Chamber member in good standing prior to January 1, 2013
• Qualifying employee count (350 or less) is the number of employees based in the Huntsville/Madison County metro area. (Please note that for the purpose of these awards, Small Businesses are determined only by employee count, not by revenue stream.)
  
  
• Small Business of the Year – 51-350 Employees (this category consists of Business/Professional Services, Technology Services and Government Contracting)
• Small Business of the Year – Business/Professional Services – 1-50 employees
• Small Business of the Year – Technology Services – 1-50 employees
• Small Business of the Year – Government Contracting – 1-50 employees
  
  

Russell G. Brown Executive Leadership Award

In order to qualify for this award you must meet the following criteria:

Must have started, owned or currently own or serve in the capacity of CEO or President for a small business (350 employees or less) for a minimum of 2 years – business must have been or is located, headquartered and hold a business license in Huntsville/Madison County
Must not have received this award, Entrepreneur or Executive of the Year in the last 10 Years

Nonprofit of the Year

In order to qualify for this award you must meet the following criteria:

• Nominees must have been in business in the Huntsville/Madison County metro area prior to December 31, 2010
• enrolled as a Chamber member by January 1, 2013
• less than 350 employees
• not have received this award in the last 10 years
• have a current 501(c)(3) or 501 (c)(6) status – (documents required)
  
  

Young Professional of the Year

In order to qualify for this award you must meet the following criteria:

• Must have been employed continually in the Huntsville/Madison County metro area since 12/31/11
• Must currently be employed by a Chamber member qualifying as a Small Business/Nonprofit (350 or less employees)
• High standards of personal integrity
• Record of achievement in community activities, or a desire to increase community involvement
• The ability to set and attain goals as demonstrated by significant career, personal or community achievement
• Must be 39 years of age or below as of 1/1/13
