Renowned Science, Technology Firm Invests in Huntsville; Opens Office

Global Science & Technology, Inc. recently opened an office in Huntsville. The company made the announcement as part of a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception at the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County.
“Investing in Huntsville is a key part of our strategic plan,” said Chieh-san Cheng, president of Global Science & Technology, Inc. “We are strongly committed to partnering with the Huntsville business and government community by applying our well-known technical services and capabilities.”

JANSON Communications, a premier strategic communications provider, formally celebrated its expansion into Huntsville on May 8 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Evans Quinlivan, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County Board of Directors, welcomed the team to the city. “We are thrilled that you are here,” he said. “I pledge to you that we will do everything we can to make sure you continue to grow and to become an even bigger part of our community.”Janet Chihocky, CEO of JANSON Communications, expressed her pleasure at being in the city and her gratitude to Rick Davis, director of Cummings Research Park, for treating her small company with the same respect given to much larger firms.
“Though we are starting small in Huntsville, we absolutely expect to grow as the Huntsville community continues to grow,” said Chihocky. “I want to thank Rick Davis from the Chamber. He has become a dear friend to us and really took us under his wing. Rick treated us like we were a 5,000-person company.” She also stated that she expected to use Huntsville as the catalyst for growth of her team; 11 of the company’s 14 team members are stationed in the city. TRC Completes Fourth Inning

Volunteers are bringing the runs in and completed the fourth inning of the 2008 TRC Campaign. To date, this year’s campaign has brought in $987,000 to support economic growth in the Huntsville/Madison County community. Lead off hitters for the past week were: 1st: Joe Knoch, Air Essentials; 2nd: Faith Miller, Regions Bank; and 3rd: Linda Cinader, Wachovia.Top Teams for Campaign are: The Rocket City All Stars, led by Joe Green, SAIC and Regina Underwood, A Realty Group; A League of Their Own, led by Carrie McCrillis, Kelly Services and Marianne Windham, Windham Entertainment; and the Regions Cabos Bravos, led by Lee Lester, Regions Bank. Our Top Rookie was Joe Knoch, Air Essentials.

Huntsville Chamber Recruits in Silicon Valley
Mark Brown, recruitment director for the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County, recently attended the Targeted Career Fairs Expo in San Jose where the Huntsville marketplace was well recognized by the people in attendance. The career Expo featured 20 employers and drew 490 attendees with backgrounds in engineering, technology, and many who had federal security clearances.The next recruiting trip is May 26 -30 to the National Association of Colleges and Employers Annual Meeting in New Orleans. Annual Meeting Speaker Has Hand in
Saturn V Named as Wonder
When the Chamber brought astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson to Huntsville to speak at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting in January, he spoke about the Saturn V and visited the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, where he saw the original Saturn V rocket. He recently served on a panel for “Good Morning America” to assist in picking the “7 Wonders of America.” The Saturn V was chosen as a wonder, and Huntsville was chosen over Johnson Space Center in Houston and Kennedy Space Center in Florida as the location for news coverage and live broadcasts for “Good Morning America” as a result of Dr. Tyson’s influence. |

Royal Funeral Home Celebrates 90 Years of Service
Royal Funeral Home will celebrate its 90th anniversary with several events during the first week of June.

Weichert, Realtors-The Executive Group in Huntsville, recently received the 2007 “Pinnacle Award,” the topmost honor given by Weichert Real Estate Affiliates, Inc. to an office. Weichert Affiliates President Martin J. Rueter presented the award to the agency’s owners, Jim Crumrine, Brenda Elliott and Jim Layne at an awards ceremony for member offices of the Weichert Southeast Broker Council. Elliott, who is the company’s broker and CEO, was honored a second time onstage at the franchise organization’s national convention, before an audience of fellow franchisees and agents from across the country.
