After 20 years in Memphis, Tenn., Aladdin Light Lift Systems founder and President John W. Falls announced that the company is moving its headquarters to Huntsville and will be constructing a 22,500 square-foot manufacturing facility at Chase Industrial Park. The company manufactures the motorized Aladdin light lift system and the motorized Aladdin storage lift system for commercial and residential use. The Aladdin Light Lift is a motorized system for chandelier maintenance, allowing the user to easily clean the chandelier and change light bulbs without ladders. Users can easily and safely lower the chandeliers within easy reach of the floor.
The announcement was made at the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County.
“I knew I was in the right community when I came before the Industrial Development Board of the City of Huntsville and the company before me was a multimillion dollar company. I asked the board members if they helped small businesses too and they laughed and immediately assisted us in coming into the Huntsville community,” Falls said.
“We’ve been here long enough to see that Huntsville is a positive city with a can-do attitude. We are thrilled to be here with you. Some of the key issues we looked for were low crime and good schools. Huntsville has both. We were also looking for a positive business climate and I can’t think of another city with a more positive business climate than Huntsville.”
Chamber Board Chair Charlie Kettle, emcee of the event, said Aladdin’s move was great for the entire community.
“The addition of a world-class organization and a new facility to Chase Industrial Park is important for this community – it further diversifies our industry base while adding a great company with great leadership to this community,” he said.
Madison County Commission Chairman Mike Gillespie thanked Falls and his team for selecting the Huntsville/Madison County community as a place to grow Aladdin’s business.
“Thank you for this decision to move your company here and more importantly moving your family. Every meeting we had was a great meeting. Your company and its workers helps make our community stronger. We look forward to being your partner for many years to come,” Gillespie said.
Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle echoed those sentiments, and said he was thrilled that the Aladdin employees were moving with the company to Huntsville.
“This is a great day. Thank you for coming here to be a part of our community. It is good to bring fresh new faces to the community. You will be an important part of the leadership of the community. This is a community that is very accepting and you can be part of the community leadership very quickly. They say that if you were born here you are lucky and the ones that moved here are smart. We are glad to include you in that smart category,” Battle said.
Falls said he expected the facility to be completed in August of 2011. “We have room to expand approximately 40 percent” he said, adding that the company will employ 15 full time at the facility. “We also have 50 outside independent manufacturer’s representatives that help us sell in the U.S., Canada and others internationally.”
