Originally valued at $542.5 million, this contract is now worth up to $792.5 million. The contract, which began on Oct. 15, 2005, consists of a one-year base period and four one-year options.

Jacobs is providing services across a wide range of engineering, technical, science, propulsion, program management, and business disciplines, including support to major NASA programs such as the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, and the emerging Constellation program.

Wyle Laboratories, Huntsville, Ala., was awarded a $38,647,339 contract for the Reliability Information Analysis Center to research, test, develop and deliver concept recommendations, architecture analysis, ontological models reports, prototype development assessments, prototypes, security models and research discovery/recommendations for the Persistent Virtual Warfighting Environment Project. At this time $543,092 has been obligated. 55th Contracting Squadron, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., is the contracting activity (HC1047-05-D-4005).

SCI Technology, Inc., Huntsville, Ala., was awarded an $8,085,625 firm-fixed-price contract for Tactical Operations Center Intercommunication System (TOCNET®)-V equipment in support of the Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) and Logistics Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR) programs. Work will be performed in Huntsville, Ala., and all units are expected to be delivered by March 2010. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Twenty-one small businesses from Madison County recently made the Inc. 500/5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the country, the highest number from any county in Alabama.

The list, compiled by Inc. Magazine, showed that Huntsville-based GATR Technologies and Alatec were the only Alabama-based companies to rank on the Inc. 500 list.

Huntsville-based GATR Technologies (Alabama’s highest-ranked company) and Alatec were the only Alabama-based companies to rank on the Inc. 500.

Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle said the companies reinforce the uniqueness and diversity of the local economy.

“Every day we see examples of the strength of our community. I am ecstatic that our success story is continuing to grow – and we could not be more proud of the 20 small businesses named to the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies,” Battle said. Continue »

Shortly after arriving, Burkett decided to start his own company, which won its first defense contract just months after incorporating.
