Oak Ridge Huntsville Partnership Office To Host Briefings on DOE’s Tenn. Valley Energy Enterprise
The first briefing, on the U.S. Department of Energy’s Tennessee Valley Enterprise, will be held July 24 at 10 a.m. at the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s (UAHuntsville) Shelby Center for Science and Technology, Room 150. Sherrell Greene, director of Nuclear Technology Programs at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Gary Gilmartin, director of the Oak Ridge Energy Corridor will speak about The Tennessee Valley Energy Enterprise, which is a new “regional energy park” that will leverage regional assets, infrastructure and science and technology capabilities lead the national initiative to achieve U.S. energy security. This initiative is characterized by three attributes: a diversity in supply and delivery technologies; integration of supply and demand; and sustainability of energy enterprise. The second briefing, entitled “Technology Transfer: Leveraging Science and Research in the U.S. Department of Energy and Its National Laboratories,” will be held July 30 at 1:30 p.m. in the Olin B. King Technology Hall, Room 105S, at UAHuntsville. Mark Reeves, Director of Technology Transfer with Oak Ridge National Laboratory will showcase the best and most efficient ways to collaborate with the partners of the Oak Ridge-Huntsville Partnership Office in order to create new solutions and investment opportunities. “There are tremendous opportunities for collaboration and new investments in both Oak Ridge and Huntsville. By sharing information about what our communities are focusing on and explaining the process by which we can better work together, the partnership office is providing a catalyst to build business, expand our capabilities and help our nation face its biggest challenges,” said Major General (Ret) Dennis Jackson, interim director of the Oak Ridge-Huntsville Partnership Office. “We hope those interested in doing business in Oak Ridge and those who want to learn more the capabilities that are positioning our region as a national leader in the energy sector will join us for these important briefings.” Both briefings are free and open to the public.
