AUSA Unprecedented Record:
Best Overall Chapter 5 Years in a row

For an unprecedented fifth year, the Redstone-Huntsville Chapter of the Association of the United States Army was chosen as the international Best Overall Chapter.

“This great accomplishment would not be possible without the hard work and contributions of our Board and membership,” said Mike Howell, President of the AUSA Redstone-Huntsville Chapter.

In addition to Best Overall Chapter honors, the Redstone-Huntsville Chapter will also receive accolades for their web site, chapter newsletter and greatest percentage increase in corporate membership and increase in retiree membership. The chapter was also cited for its outreach to families and local ROTC units.

“We have a great leadership team in the Executive Committee and Executive Board, a great group of Corporate and Individual Members and a very supportive Team Redstone led by Maj. Gen. Jim Myles, including [the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command) and Lt. Gen. Kevin Campbell,” Howell added.

Howell stated that he looks forward to another great year for the organization.

“It's all about the Soldiers, AUSA and the Army. The stronger we all are, the greater the impact,” said Howell.

This year, the Chapter will share the honor with co-winner Central Texas, Fort Hood. The chapters will be recognized at the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition Oct. 6-8 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

The AUSA Mission is to represent every American Soldier by being the “voice” for all components of America’s Army, fostering public support of the Army’s role in national security and providing professional education and informational programs.

The local chapter competes with hundreds of other chapters across the U.S. and abroad. Chapters are judged based on such criteria as having the largest chapter membership, overall percent increase in membership, excellence in corporate membership growth and best general membership meeting.
AUSA is a private, nonprofit educational association of individual business and organization members dedicated to supporting and maintaining a strong national defense with emphasis on the role of the United States Army. AUSA supports the needs and interests of all components of the Total Army – Active Duty, Army Reserve, National Guard, Department of the Army civilians, retirees and family members.
