Program Details

A. Benefits

  • The Ambassador Program provides opportunities for you to meet local business people and build lasting relationships.

  • A high level of prestige and credibility is extended to your business through your involvement in this highly visible and well respected goodwill group.

  • All Ambassadors may attend at no charge member events such as New Member Lunches, Business After Hours and Breakfast & Biz. These events are excellent networking opportunities.

  • You can expect to not only increase your monthly contacts but also your presence in the business community.

  • All Ambassadors are invited to attend the monthly Emissary/Ambassador luncheon with lunch provided. Meetings will be held on the first Thursday of the month (unless specified otherwise).

  • Your name and company name will be displayed on the Ambassador page on the Chamber website.

  • You will experience increased name and face recognition for you and your business or organization.

  • You will have an insider’s perspective of the local business community.

  • You will gain introductions to local business and community leaders.

  • You will find the opportunity to demonstrate community pride.

B. Requirements

  • You must be employed by or own a business that has a Chamber business membership in good standing.

  • Membership dues payments and all other payments due the Chamber must be paid on time to remain an ambassador.

  • Please have your employer’s approval to participate in the program.

  • You must submit payment for the Ambassador Council Fee: $95 for a full year or $45 for a half year (joining after July). Invoice will be emailed with online link for payment.

C. Restrictions

  • You cannot solicit for any political issue or person at the Chamber or any Chamber event.

  • In order to maintain a diverse group, we do ask that only two individuals per company participate on the Council.

Participation Requirements

In order to ensure that our Ambassadors are maintaining a high level of participation, we ask that they meet requirements for both events and ribbon cuttings. We will perform quarterly evaluations to ensure that these are being followed as closely as possible. As an Ambassador, you have the opportunity to select what activities you want to complete to fulfill your program service requirement. The opportunities may vary but include the following:

A. Events: Attend/assist with three events in a three-month time period

  • Breakfast & Biz (held quarterly)

    • Volunteering as a facilitator: This involves sitting at the table and guiding the participants during each round.

    • Attending the event: You must register online before event for free admittance. A special registration link will be set up for all Ambassadors to sign up for the events. In order to receive this credit, attendance at each event must be confirmed by giving Kathleen Byrne a business card. Points will not be awarded based on word of mouth or emails received after the event.

  • Business After Hours (held monthly)

    • Volunteering to reach out to new-members and non-members: This involves finding those members who are new (indicated by a green dot on the name tag) or non-members (indicated by a red dot on the name tag) and reaching out to them.

    • Attending the event: You must register online before event for free admittance. A special registration link will be set up for all Ambassadors to sign up for the events. In order to receive this credit, attendance at each event must be confirmed by giving Kathleen Byrne a business card. Points will not be awarded based on word of mouth or emails received after the event.

  • New Member Luncheon (held quarterly)

    • Attending the event: You must register online before event for free admittance. A special registration link will be set up for all Ambassadors to sign up for the events. Points will not be awarded based on word of mouth or emails received after the event.

  • Golf Tournament (held semi-annually)

    • Volunteering at the event: This involves taking one or more shift. Tasks include checking in players, transporting hole-in-one sitters to location, checking in volunteers, monitoring hole-in-one/closest-to-the-pin/longest drive contests.

  • Best Places to Work/Holiday Open House/Small Business Awards (held annually)

    • Volunteering before, during or after the event: These will be determined on case-by-case basis.

B. Ribbon Cuttings/Groundbreakings: Attend 10 ceremonies in a three-month time period

  • Attending the ceremony: In order to receive these points, attendance at each event must be confirmed by giving Kathleen Byrne a business card. Points will not be awarded based on word of mouth or emails received after the event.

Additional Volunteer Opportunities

Throughout the year there are other opportunities to assist with the Ambassador Program. The following opportunities are not required but are highly appreciated.

A. New Member Leads

  • Turn in five or more new member leads to New Member Coordinator, Mike Brazier (mbrazier@hsvchamber.org, 256.535.3035).

  • The ambassador with the most members referred at the end of each month will receive recognition at the monthly luncheon and a gift card.

  • All Ambassadors who turn in five or more leads will have their name placed into a drawing for a gift certificate.

B. New Member Packet Assembly

  • Several individuals will work together to assemble all items for our New Membership packets.

  • Packet assembly will be held on an as needed basis.

  • Depending on amount of assistance, the process takes approximately one to two hours.

C. Ambassador Recruitment

  • You may refer all interested individuals to Events Coordinator, Kathleen Byrne (kbyrne@hsvchamber.org, 256.535.2051).

  • The ambassador with the most members referred at the end of each month will receive recognition at the monthly luncheon and a gift card.

  • All Ambassadors who turn in five or more leads will have their name placed into a drawing for a gift certificate.

D. Member Relations

  • Deliver plaques to recent new members.

  • Make phone calls to members on past due lists.

  • Visit businesses that have recently joined and thanking for Chamber membership.

Teams and Team Captains

All Ambassadors will be placed on a team by Chamber staff. Each Ambassador Team will be responsible for attending all ribbon cuttings during one assigned month. For example, Team 1 will be asked to attend all ribbon cuttings in January, Team 2 in February, and so on.

Each team will be assigned a team captain. Team Captains are responsible for communicating with their team throughout the year. They are also asked to help promote attendance within their group at events and ribbon cuttings.

Ambassador of the Year

The Ambassador of the year is a volunteer that has shown great dedication and participation throughout the year and is one of the top point winners.

A. Criteria the Chamber staff will review in making their choice for Ambassador of the year:

  • A Top point winner

  • Rapport with Chamber Staff

  • Rapport with other volunteers

  • Chamber Awareness/Dedication/Passion

  • Participation in other Chamber Events

  • Follow-up with New Member contacts

B. Benefits received if chosen for the Ambassador of the year:

  • You become an Ex-officio of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville / Madison County for the year.

  • $400 will be applied toward your membership dues.

  • You will serve as Ambassador Council Chairperson for the following year.

  • You will eceive a name badge ( Ambassador of the Year).

  • You will receive business cards ( Ambassador of the Year).

  • You will receive recognition for Ambassador and company in the ChamberLink e-newsletter.

  • You will receive recognition for Ambassador and company on the Website.

  • You will receive recognition for Ambassador and company at Annual Membership Meeting.

  • Your company can advertise one free year in the Member Connection ($2,400 value)

  • You will receive a plaque for Ambassador of the Year.

  • You will receive a $100 gift certificate.
