Woodland Homes Named One of the Top 200 Largest Builders in the Nation
Woodland Homes of Huntsville ranked 194th largest builder in nation by Builder Magazine.
Woodland Homes of Huntsville was ranked as the 194th largest home builder in the nation in 2007 by Builder Magazine. In the May 2008 issue of the magazine, in “America’s Biggest Builders 2007,” the top 200 builders in the nation are listed. For the first time ever, Woodland Homes joined the list with 139 single-family and 33 multi-family homes built last year.
Not only has Woodland Homes joined the Top 200, the company has also been ranked for the past five years as one of the fastest growing home builders in the nation in Builder Magazine’s “Fast Track Hall of Fame.” Most recently, in 2007, Woodland Homes ranked as the 54th fastest growing home builder in the nation. Port of Huntsville Breaks Ground on Expansion of Air Cargo Facilities
International Intermodal Center sets sights on continuous growth
Construction is officially underway on the $7.5 million expansion of the International Intermodal Center at the Port of Huntsville. Decatur-based Fite Building Company, Inc. broke ground today on the new 92,000-square-foot- air cargo facility slated to open in February 2009. According to Mitch Bradley, Director, International Intermodal Center, “Unprecedented growth in air cargo freight over the past four years has us approaching capacity at our current facility. The Huntsville Museum of Art’s art galleries will now be closed to the public on Mondays beginning May 5.
The Museum Academy will continue to hold classes and facility rental will still be available on Mondays.
Many museums and art centers across the country are also closed on Mondays. This is an important time for various departments, especially the curatorial department, to prepare the art galleries for upcoming exhibitions or to de-install a closed exhibition.
Please make note of this closing in your event calendar listings or attractions information regarding the Huntsville Museum of Art.
The Museum’s operating hours are now:
Tuesday-Saturday 10 am-5 pm
Thursday 10 am-8 pm

Junior Achievement Receives Grant from WIRED
The Tennessee Valley WIRED region has formally partnered with Junior Achievement (JA). JA inspires and prepares young people to succeed in the community by promoting entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.
The partnership provides better career awareness and career exploration opportunities to youth in the North Alabama and South Central Tennessee region, and serves as a model for other WIRED regions.
This partnership strengthens existing Junior Achievement programs. Through its dedicated network of volunteers, the program will provide in-school and after-school activities to build youth’s self-confidence and develop their skills. The initiative will provide a strong bridge between education and business, giving students the opportunity to plan their futures along with giving them the tools to carry out their dreams

For the second year in a row, the global financial services firm Edward Jones is the highest−ranking brokerage firm on BusinessWeek magazine’s second annual ranking of "Customer Service Champs," according to Kitty Davenport, a financial advisor in Huntsville.
Edward Jones ranked No. 8 among 25 national and international companies, according to the magazine’s March 3 edition.

UAH offers three business degree programs at night
Three bachelor’s degree programs in business that can be completed entirely at night are now being offered through the business school at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).
Working students who take only night classes can now complete degrees in accounting, management or management information systems (IT) at UAH, where the business school is ranked in the top 10% of undergraduate business schools in the U.S., according to Dr. Jim Simpson, dean of the UAH College of Business Administration. Intergraph Supports Huntsville Police Fallen Officers’ Memorial
Monument to honor local officers who have given their lives to protect the community
Intergraph President and CEO R. Halsey Wise recently presented a $15,000 donation to the Huntsville Police Citizens Foundation that will be used to fund the Fallen Officers’ Memorial in honor of local officers who have given their lives in the service to the Huntsville community. Nine Huntsville police officers have died in the line of duty since 1883 and two officers, Daniel Golden and Eric Freeman, have given their lives since 2005. The Fallen Officers’ Memorial will be constructed in front of the city’s Department of Public Safety complex. Continue »
