Rev. Samuel "Billy" Kyles will be Oakwood University’s featured student chapel guest speaker, 9:50 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, at the Oakwood University Church, 7000 Adventist Boulevard. He is the only living person who actually spent the final hour of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life with him that fateful night of his assassination.

Dr. Helen McAlpine, President of Drake State Technical College and Huntsville City Mayor, Tommy Battle were joined by State Board of Education Member, Dr. Mary Jane Caylor and Dr. Freida Hill, Chancellor of the Alabama Two Year College System in the official opening of the college’s downtown instructional site. The college recently completed a renovation on the lower level of the Historic Times Building at 228 Holmes Avenue North. Classes are being offered in the location for the spring semester. The site currently provides approximately 10,000 square feet of instructional and office space.

The City of Huntsville Recreation Services is partnering will eleven Kiwanis and Optimist Clubs in the Huntsville area to build a Special Needs Playground in Brahan Spring Park. This playground is called Everybody Can Play (see our website at www.everybodycanplay.org. It will be designed for youth and adults. People with special needs can play as well as those who do not have special needs.
