This year the recipients included 16 individuals and teams in six categories. The Special Service Award recognized Freedom's leadership in developing the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate Mishap Response Contingency Action Plan (MRCAP) and Security Response Contingency Action Plan (SecurCAP). The two plans change the model of how NASA responds to accidents and security incidents. Freedom was honored in the Civil Service/Contractor Team Award for collaborating with NASA personnel to capture facilities, assets and capabilities data, then designing and implementing a software database to effectively capture, sort, compare and report exploration requirements against the agency's capability lists. NASA is now seeking to leverage the system and its Freedom-designed, Web-based user application to manage broader institutional capabilities - greatly expanding the impacts and benefits of this Freedom's work for NASA. Mark Ogles, President of Freedom, was on site to accept the Special Service Award on behalf of the Washington, D.C. team. "It is an honor to nominated for this distinguished award for our work at headquarters and then receive it in front of our colleagues," He noted. "Our team works along side the NASA client collaborating daily to help NASA achieve mission success. It makes me proud that our clients publicly recognize we are meeting challenges and exceeding expectations."
