Join the CASA Community Garden for a bit of gardening and some sunshine! Volunteers should wear close-toed shoes and bring their own water, bug spray and sunscreen. Kitty Kickin for Kitty 

 

This fundraiser is for Kitty's Miracle Fund, an  organization recently formed in honor of Catherine Jordan a 3rd grader from St John's School in Madison diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia last school year and is currently in her last round of chemotherapy and will soon receive a bone marrow transplant. 
This fund has been formed to raise money for Catherine and other Tennessee Valley families whose children are being treated for AML. The Kickin' for Kitty Soccer Tournament  includes teams from the Tennessee Valley (U8-adult brackets) invited to participate in this Labor Day Tournament September 4-6 2009 at Merrimack Fields in Huntsville. Volunteer needs are: field marshals, people to sell t-shirts, registration, serving water, referees, and kid zone. Please sign up for Fri,Sat, or Sun. Contact Desiree' Possel

Salvation September 12 - Salvation Army


On September 12 Hampton Cove Subdivision will be holding it's annual Fall Yard Sale.  The Salvation Army has arranged with Cove United Methodist Church which is located directly across the street from the Hampton Cove Subdivision entrance, to park one of our large trucks in their parking lot from 11:30am until 3pm for Hampton Cove residents to bring items that did not sell at their yard sale.  They need volunteers to accept and load the yard sale items and to offer tax receipts to the donors.

flint Flint River Conservation Association


Flint River Cleanup Saturday, September 19 - Pre-registration is required for this cleanup so we can match up experienced paddlers with those who are less experienced. To register, send an email to flintriverconservation@gmail.com that includes the following information: name, email address, phone number, the number of people in your group (include their names too), and if you need a canoe. If there are any kids under the age of 18, please note that in your email. Also include experience level: beginner, some experience, very experienced, expert, expert with rescue training. MS National Multiple Sclerosis Sociey


September 26th-27th in Mooresville, AL. Bike MS is a two day, 150 mile bike ride which raises funds and awareness for the nearly 4,000 Alabamians living with multiple sclerosis. HEALS clinics are looking for Volunteers with good driving records and ability to "pass" a HSV City School Background Check.  If you can help drive the HEALS 8-passenger van to transport students from their site school to the HEALS Dental Clinic weekday mornings from 8-11am please contact  Mimi Bynum,  256-428-7560 abynum@hsv.k12.al.us. Great opportunity to interact with children and be part of helping all children get dental care.

 

HT Happy Trails!

Happy Trails Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc., will need volunteers to assist riders with disabilities at "Horse Camp" this fall.  Volunteers will help the riders catch, groom, tack up, and play games with the horse.  Then the volunteer will assist with mounting and riding; a love of horses and children is really helpful!  Volunteers will be needed for 4 Sundays in October and 4 Sundays in November, from 9-11 am. Volunteer training is held on Sundays in September between 11 and 5.  Please contact the center director at kathi@happytrailstrc.org
