We're so excited....we wanted to share the good news with YOU! The Huntsville Museum of Art has secured an additional $2 million from the City! That is a grand total of $4 million from the City toward the Museum's Capital Campaign and expansion project. Our deepest appreciation to Mayor Loretta Spencer and Huntsville City Council Members Bill Kling, Sandra Moon, Mark Russell, Richard Showers, and Glenn Watson. Plus, many thanks to the Capital Campaign Cabinet and Chairpersons Peter and Betsy Lowe, Dorothy and Julian Davidson, Museum Board Members, and all those who assisted in any way in securing funding for the expansion. The Huntsville Museum of Art has now raised $12.3 million! The Museum’s Capital Campaign, Masterpiece in the Making, has raised $10.3 million of its $11 million goal, making this Campaign the most successful nonprofit campaign in the history of Huntsville. The Museum’s Board of Trustees and City officials have determined the best course of action regarding the Museum’s expansion is to rebid the project by Fuqua and Partners Architects. Like hundreds of projects nationwide, bids for the expansion came in nearly 50% above the original cost estimates, due to inflated labor and materials costs impacted by unstable market conditions. The Museum expansion project has received strong community support and Campaign efforts are continuing. The Museum Board of Trustees are committed to the completion of this project!
