New Regional Customer Call Center Located in Huntsville will Provide more than 200 Jobs Comcast, the nation’s leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services announced plans for a new regional customer call center to be located at Technology Point, 7027 Old Madison Pike, in Huntsville. The new regional call center will add more than 200 jobs in Huntsville and will assist residential cable, high-speed Internet, and digital phone customers. The regional call center will serve the delta region, which serves more than 500,000 customers in Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Louisiana, and West Virginia, and will help Comcast keep pace with ever-growing customer demands for digital television, high-speed Internet customers and digital phone services. The regional call center is expected to open in January of 2008. The new regional call center represents a major expansion by Comcast in Huntsville and Alabama. The company currently has more than 600 employees in Alabama – including workers in Huntsville, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, Gadsden, and the Shoals area. The new center will bring the total number of Comcast employees in Alabama to more than 800. Evans Quinlivan, the chairman of the board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County, praised Comcast for selecting Huntsville. “We are thrilled that Comcast has recognized Huntsville as a smart place to expand its business,” Quinlivan said. “This is another significant job announcement for our community and yet another reminder of the economic growth this community continues to enjoy.” Huntsville Mayor Loretta Spencer, a featured speaker at Wednesday’s job announcement, said the job announcements symbolized diverse economic growth. “I am pleased Comcast has selected Huntsville for its new regional call center,” said Spencer. “Importantly, the creation of some 200 new jobs at this regional facility is a strong testament to our continued strategy of creating jobs in all sectors of the economy.” "The new jobs created by this call center are ideal for individuals who are passionate about customer service and want to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that offers real career growth potential," said Virgil Caudill, regional vice president of Comcast’s delta region. "Comcast is offering advanced services, from digital cable, video on demand, digital video recorders, high-speed Internet and digital voice services in the majority areas in the delta region. Comcast is the place to be for employees who are excited about the communications arena." Comcast officials said that customer account executives will be offered competitive wages and benefits based on education and previous service experience. In addition to wages, employees will receive a full incentive package including medical, dental, prescription benefits, 401k, and complimentary Comcast services. Hiring for the new positions is now underway. Comcast officials indicated they hope to have the facility fully staffed by mid-Summer 2008. Potential applicants are encouraged to apply on line at http://comcast.com/careers or visit the Comcast job fair Thursday, Nov. 15, from 4-7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Research Park. Comcast has been growing consistently for the past several years thanks to the introduction of new products and improved customer service. Strong demand is expected to continue as the company continues to roll out its Triple Play offering -- a product package featuring Digital Cable with ON DEMAND, Comcast Digital Voice phone service and Comcast High-Speed Internet. In addition to significant customer savings, Triple Play allows for one bill, one customer service point of contact, and one installation visit to the home. |
