"GREEN means GO"
For those hikers who are already in good physical shape and want to hike
with others on Land Trust trails for exercise. "GREEN
means GO" hikers will move at a FAST pace. Should it rain
the day before, participants are asked to meet at Weatherly Elementary
School for a five mile street hike.
Avid hiker and Land Trust staff member Kim Arnold (with
her famous dog Sparky) will take the lead on six hikes that will be true

Walls" are one of Forever Wild's most popular properties. Preserving
"The Walls of Jericho" also protects the headwaters of the Paint
Rock River in North Alabama. Join Land Trust Board member Mike Dalen
and staffer Kim Arnold for an unforgettable outing. "GREEN means

Stroll on Rainbow Mountain

Doug Horacek will
help you identify invasive plants, as well as Alabama native
wildflowers. See famous Balance Rock. This slow mountain
stroll includes stops to learn more about the flowers.

Trough Springs: Historical Civil War
Site

member David Young will discuss the historical significance of Trough
Springs and, in particular, stories about the Civil War exploits of Lt.
Col. Milus E. "Bushwhacker" Johnston and his dramatic surrender
to Union Forces on May 11, 1865.

Sano's Old Railroad Bed Trail on Mother's Day

Perfect new hikers
or the whole family! History comes alive this Mother's Day on Monte
Sano (Mountain of Health). The Old Railroad Bed Trail follows
the same path as the steam locomotive that traveled from the Huntsville
Depot to the Monte Sano Hotel from 1888 until 1896. Enjoy this bit of
Huntsville's past with David Young. We especially welcome our new
members to this spring hike.
