Green U: A Festival for the Environment

The Huntsville Botanical Garden invites you to celebrate our environment at Green U – a one-day event to be held on Saturday, September 26th from 10am to 4pm at the Garden. This festival for the environment is the first of its kind in Alabama and will highlight the benefits and ease of living a “greener” lifestyle!

Our keynote speaker will be Sophie Uliano, author of “Gorgeously Green: 8 Simple Steps to an Earth Friendly Life.” The forward of Sophie’s book was written by actress Julia Roberts. Sophie and Julia have been seen on the Oprah Winfrey Show putting Sophie’s earth friendly ideas to good use! Sophie’s book will be on sale in The Garden gift shop and she will be available for a book signing after her presentation.

In addition to speakers, there will be food, entertainment and activities for the whole family! Join us for bike trail rides, rock wall climbing, a fashion show, solar car races, recycling games, activity stations from Sci-Quest and much more (please see a broader list of events and speakers on the following page; note that the schedule is still being finalized).

Approximately forty local businesses and a farmer’s market will also be on-site that day to share their environmentally friendly products and services with the community. Admission is just 5 recyclable items (water bottles, aluminum cans, Capri Sun pouches, household batteries or cell phones) or $5.

So many different organizations – including the Cities of Huntsville and Madison – have partnered with The Garden to make this event a success. It will be a day of education and fun for the whole family!
